A year ago a pain developed in my knee and for several months made walking and climbing stairs difficult. With help from a Christian Science practitioner I gained many new insights and eliminated many false concepts. This new understanding of my spiritual nature and relationship to God brought about the permanent healing of pain in my knee.

Other limiting physical conditions have been destroyed through the study of the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and specifically by joyously feeling gratitude for the perfect spiritual nature of reality even when the material senses held a different view.

One instance in particular occurred when I was in gymnastics in college. The night before our final I was rehearsing a balance beam routine trying to perfect a forward roll which I still couldn't do without falling to the floor. I awoke stiff the next morning, but while I read the lesson, I concentrated on the beautiful qualities of movement, all of which have their source in Mind. I began to look forward to my opportunity to express grace, strength, coordination, courage, and joy on the balance beam. I thought only of these qualities as I volunteered to perform first, executed my routine perfectly (even the forward roll), and received the only A in the class. Later someone commented on the confidence I'd shown while performing.
