Two years ago I had a healing that proves the unreality of accidents. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." One evening while on my way home, I was hit by a car passing in front of my house. I was knocked unconscious. An ambulance was called, and I was rushed to the hospital. Even though I was unconscious, I was repeating "the scientific statement of being," according to the reports made by the attendants at the hospital and by relatives. These words are part of the statement (ibid., p. 468): "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."

A Christian Science practitioner was called immediately. It was known I would wish to rely upon God for my healing. The following morning I was signed out of the hospital, and was cared for at home. I was still in a coma, with a broken arm and hipbone and concussion of the brain. To those of my relatives who are not Christian Scientists, this was a very frightening experience. The practitioner lovingly sent me words of comfort, which I did not even hear, but which encouraged my loved ones in the house. For six days I was in a state of semiconsciousness.

On the seventh day the practitioner made a special effort to rouse me. I did not consciously hear her words, which were relayed by my family, but I woke up out of the dream and sat up. Later I got out of the bed, and was completely healed. The cast on my arm was soon taken off. During all this experience no medication in any form was used.
