It has been my privilege to be a student of Christian Science for many years. A healing of a broken bone that occurred when I was eight years old impressed me, and there has never been a time since then that Christian Science has not been applied to meet all my needs.

I had broken my leg between the knee and hip. My parents were new in the study of Christian Science, and they took me to the hospital to have the bone set. Over the next few days the doctor tried three times to set the bone. After the third time when he told my father he would have to try again, as it had not knit properly, my parents decided to take me home, even though the doctor said that if they did so I would always have a limp. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and my parents and I prayed to see the perfection of man created in God's image.

Although I was young, it was made very clear to me that the outcome could depend a lot on myself, and over the next two weeks I tried to apply the little I knew of Christian Science, working specifically with "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy. The opening words are: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."
