[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied.]
Healing through obedience to the moral law
The First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," Ex. 20:3; is the basis of the moral law. The oneness and allness of God, Mind, is the spiritual law that, when understood, eliminates sin and disease. As we obey the moral law in conscious expression of the spiritual law, we can heal.
Good people seem defenseless against disease or catastrophe because they do not recognize the divine source of their goodness. But if we realize that honesty with ourselves and with our neighbor is an expression of divine Truth, of God, we find that as Mrs. Eddy says, "Honesty is spiritual power." Science and Health, p. 453;
Christ Jesus warned against praying to "be seen of men." He said we should pray in secret; "and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." Matt. 6:5, 6.
