The Irresistible Attraction
People are often attracted to others because of their smiling faces, appealing qualities of character, or charisma. Basic to real attraction is the spiritually scientific fact that God, Spirit, is the primary and only cause. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit." Science and Health, p. 102;
Christ Jesus never for a moment lost sight of his unity with Spirit, God. During his mission he consistently explained and demonstrated man's spiritual sonship and coexistence with God. He indicated the law of true attraction when he said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32;
Any other so-called control or magnetic action is an illusion of mortal belief. This counterfeit force, or animal magnetism, is suppositional power opposed to God. It seems to promise good but delivers evil. The disciple John wrote of it, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God." I John 4:1;
