Many years ago I enjoyed a steak dinner with friends at a fashionable restaurant in a suburb of Boston. As we were waiting for our driver to bring the car around to the front door, a pleasant-looking matron approached me with this comment: "How interesting to see that you did not order chicken for your dinner. I was under the impression that all Negroes preferred a nice chicken dinner!"
My reaction was one of fury, resentment, and mental turmoil that raged for days. But in retrospect, I realize that I reacted like this because I was totally uninformed about the true nature of God, the source of my being, and my relationship to Him.
