Spiritual Dominion

Many years ago I enjoyed a steak dinner with friends at a fashionable restaurant in a suburb of Boston. As we were waiting for our driver to bring the car around to the front door, a pleasant-looking matron approached me with this comment: "How interesting to see that you did not order chicken for your dinner. I was under the impression that all Negroes preferred a nice chicken dinner!"

My reaction was one of fury, resentment, and mental turmoil that raged for days. But in retrospect, I realize that I reacted like this because I was totally uninformed about the true nature of God, the source of my being, and my relationship to Him.

In the intervening years, Christian Science has taught me how to distinguish between what is real and what is unreal, thus enabling me to appreciate my own true worth—my wholeness—the perfection which Christ Jesus commanded when he said: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."  Matt. 5:48;
