One afternoon the front door slammed, and a very unhappy little voice cried, "Grandma, Grandma!"

It was four-year-old Lonnie, and Grandma recognized by the tone of his voice that there was unusual trouble in his heart.

When Lonnie found his grandma, he was very close to tears. He ran to her and put his head in her lap. "I want to be clean!" he cried. "A little boy told me I was black and couldn't be clean—that I was black clear through."
