A Good Neighbor
Urban and suburban dwellers generally find themselves being drawn closer and closer together by today's unrelenting growth in population. The sound from the television downstairs booms annoyingly in the apartment above. Many houses are so close together that neighbors can overhear each other's conversations. Expressways are overcrowded with fuming automobiles and fuming drivers. Subways are packed with many people, all in a hurry.
To establish and maintain a progressive and friendly society in this era of extreme closeness, it is more necessary than ever for each of us to be a good neighbor. Thoughtful consideration and genuine respect for every individual's rights are major factors in being good neighbors.
But what if we make the effort to be a good neighbor and find that our neighbors are not responding by expressing thoughtfulness toward us? What if we see destructive competition and unhappiness between neighbors, and we appear to be caught in the middle?
