Overcoming Fear in the City
Because of poverty, injustice, racial unrest, and violent crime in our cities, we hear people say, "I can't go out at night" or "I do not go out at night. Even in my own neighborhood. So much going on out there."
Is there any way to help overcome this limitation and fear?
Christian Science teaches the importance of conquering fear through understanding the power of God, His creation, and man's relationship to Him as set forth by Christ Jesus. In Isaiah we read, "Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise." Isa. 60:18; We need to learn how to lift our thinking. When we do this in Christian Science, our thought improves our experience. The only sure way to destroy fear and help to overcome violence is to grow in our understanding of God, Love.
