Healing in Christian Science opens the thought of the person...

Healing in Christian Science opens the thought of the person who has been healed to an enlarged understanding of man's completeness and perfection as an idea of God. The joy which comes from freedom of pain and limitation is but a small portion of the great gladness that is felt.

I awoke one morning in pain, and was unable to move one of my legs. As I am a schoolteacher and was taking a nature course, I canceled my plans for the day. Then I studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, searching for the healing truth I so desperately needed. Because of the intense pain in my hip I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner.

A few hours later I was able to walk enough to do some watering in the yard. I rejoiced over this because I realized my thought was yielding to the spiritual facts I had been studying. In the early evening I called the practitioner to report my progress. It was a Wednesday, and she said, "You're going to church tonight, aren't you?" I hadn't thought I'd be able to, and had actually been preparing for bed, but the question aroused my thought and I realized I could go to church, so I did, with a great sense of love and gratitude.
