Recently it was proved to me beyond any doubt that a physical disability can be helped by Christian Science treatment. I have known and proved this for a long time, but on this occasion very suddenly I was unable to use or control my right arm and leg. My wife and I tried for several hours to overcome the condition, but without results, so a Christian Science practitioner was called and came to our home at once. He proceeded immediately to treat me silently through understanding prayer to God, and in a matter of just a few minutes I was completely free and could move about and use my arm and leg as normally as ever. I felt the healing effect as did the two disciples when, on their walk to Emmaus, Jesus joined them and explained the Scriptures, and they said afterward (Luke 24:32), "Did not our heart burn within us?"

Another healing I experienced several years ago that left a lasting impression came while my wife and I were on a vacation trip over seven hundred miles from home. I was suddenly stricken with what doubtlessly would have been called appendicitis, had it been diagnosed. We were several miles from our cottage at the time, so my wife drove us back and left me at the cottage, then continued on some distance to reach a telephone. She called a a practitioner near our home, and in about an hour the pain subsided and I went to sleep. When I wakened a short time later, there was no slightest trace of the trouble, and it has never reappeared. This certainly proved that distance was no obstacle to the operation of Christian Science healing.

It is a wonderful thing to think how the consecrated work of Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, made available to the world the Truth that makes us free—the same Truth that Christ Jesus demostrated so many years ago. Our family has relied on Christian Science for our well-being for over fifty years, and we have found it helpful in matters of business as well as of health. I am grateful indeed that this Science came into my life when it did.
