Normalcy Is Joyful
"What's that? Oh, he's much better, thank you. He's his old grouchy self. So he's back to normal" The telephone droned on.
"Back to normal." Does normalcy include ill temper, faultfinding, and unlovableness, or other negative elements such as mediocrity and dullness? The world has largely accepted this rather unfortunate view.
Jesus must have regarded perfection as the normal status of man. Otherwise he could not reasonably have stated, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is in heaven is perfect."Matt. 5:48; This was a loving but imperative command to everyone, not just an invitation to the specially gifted.
