"God is not the author of confusion"

Can we have mental dominion and tranquillity today when problems and demands crowd in on every side? Restlessness. Pressure. Anxiety. Paul's words offer much promise: "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace."I Cor. 14:33; The answer lies partly in an understanding of these words.

Christian Science teaches that peace comes through an understanding that man, made in God's likeness, is able to reflect only quiet dominion and inspired calm. Consider the following experience. One day I found myself snowed under with responsibilities. In addition to many demands on my time, there was a deep sense of depression over recent world events. And on top of this, I was having quite a struggle with a physical difficulty. It seemed almost impossible for me to be calm and collected or to go on with my duties.

Turning to God for guidance, I opened the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to these words: "The calm and exalted thought or spiritual apprehension is at peace."Science and Health, p. 506;
