When I was in my teens, we visited an aunt who told us of Christian Science and how after one treatment her son had been healed of rickets. When she left home to visit a Christian Science practitioner, her son was being carried around by older children because he couldn't walk. Upon her return, he had come running to meet her, fully healed.

We were all anxious to learn more of this religion, so we went with my aunt to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I shall never forget the testimonies that were given. When we returned to our home, we started to attend services in a Church of Christ, Scientist.

My first healing was that of carbuncles under my arm. The year before I had had four, one after the other. At that time my mother took me to a doctor. He said they must be lanced, which was very painful. Now my other arm was affected. This time we decided to ask for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. I had four carbuncles, the same as the year before, but this time through prayerful treatment each one broke. Very little pain was felt. My reading of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was a great comfort to me at this time.
