Christian Science has provided my family and me countless blessings and proofs of the power and love of God for all His children.

Several years ago a severe condition, which appeared to be blood poisoning, developed in one foot. The foot became so swollen and painful that I was unable to wear my shoe. It was clear to me that God never made this or any other form of error, that it was devoid of any authority, any power, and that because God is All it was impossible for such a condition to exist. I therefore took my stand and refused to be imposed upon. In keeping with the First Commandment (Ex. 20:3), "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," I worshiped God only and rejected false worship of myself, my foot, or the condition.

I was not at all impressed by the appearance of my foot, nor was I fearful. I remained calm and felt secure in the presence, absolute power, and abiding love of God. It was clear to me that the condition was the expression of erroneous thought, and I prayed for God to reveal to me the error that needed uncovering, regardless of how it might hurt my pride.
