Gifts from the Father of Lights
A kindly uncle once remarked to a grown niece, "I wanted to give you a present, but I just couldn't find anything good enough for you." Such is, sometimes, the frustrating challenge of seasonal giving.
The Apostle James knew what gifts would be good enough for mankind: "Every good gifts and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17;
Though James was speaking of the lights of the heavens, his phrase reminds us of the spiritual light, or understanding, that God, Spirit, is always imparting to man, His loved expression. We turn to Him for gifts of light—for the specific enlightenment we need to inspire us and solve any problem that confronts us.
