The City of Joy
Did you ever long for a sanctuary, a place where the frustrations and pressures of material living can be shut out and life is guaranteed safe from any force that could destroy it?
Long ago, according to the Old Testament account, Moses conceived of cities of refuge, which were later set up by Joshua in the Promised Land as six sanctuaries where men could flee when in fear for their very lives.
Although the world has greatly changed since the days of the Israelites, the need for fleeing to a sanctuary of security remains acute. Men and women are pressured as seldom before by the intensities of material living. These stresses are causing physical and mental breakdowns that are quite alarming.
