My first healing was that of tuberculosis. I had been in a sanatorium for a month, and I was still shocked that I should be among the sufferers from this disease.
At this time friends wrote to me about Christian Science, enclosing a pocket edition of the Bible, some Christian Science periodicals containing testimonies of healing, and a copy of a pamphlet with the article, "God's Law of Adjustment." In the Bible, I was to read all of Psalms. I was to believe the testimonies, and I was to study the pamphlet. I did this, but did not believe what I read.
I was released from the sanatorium six months later, in no way healed, and with the order that I was not to work for three years. However, I began again to do some reporting for radio stations, attended Christian Science services, Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and lectures by members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
