Help Bring Peace
Christian Scientists are dedicated to the cause of peace. They pray for its appearing in every aspect of human experience—spiritual, mental, physical, social, political, and international. They unite with all other peace-loving men and women in working for the coming of the day when mental unrest and physical warfare in all its forms will cease to plague humanity and the reign of harmony bless the earth as heaven is already blessed.
The question is sometimes asked, Why, since students of Christian Science love peace so much, do they not always join organizations that aim to promote peace?
Christ Jesus said: "My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you." John 14:27; He implied that the Christian way to overcome conflict is not through material means but by spiritual. It is not by matching human force with human force, either physical or mental. It is by relinquishing the belief in a power, presence, and intelligence apart from God, the one divine Mind, and acknowledging this one infinite God to be the unique, all-pervading divine Spirit of the universe including man—the one Father of all, eternally maintaining His family in perfect harmony.
