Mrs. Eddy writes (Pulpit and Press, p. 3), "Know, then, that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage and trespass on Love." During 1967, this statement was invaluable to me in many experiences. In studying this my fiancée and I gleaned the support and understanding necessary to come to the decision to marry while I still had two years to complete at the university. We used this as a basis for deeper study, which resulted in manifold blessings including a home, supply, employment, and meeting the pressure of final examinations.

From the very outset of our study of the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy each situation has been met with joy and has resulted in daily healings and continued progress. As a result of this study I was led to have class instruction just one month after our marriage. This proved a humbling and enlightening experience, one I feel gave me the needed extra strength to pass all my final exams, and consequently to be accepted for a year's postgraduate course.

However, it was only in meeting a serious physical problem that I really began to understand the results of a conscious application of the teachings of Christian Science. Around Christmas of 1967, I began to suffer violent and frequent headaches. About this time I had a very serious attack, which resulted in intense pain and finally unconsciousness. I applied the many truths I had just learned in class, and I received immediate but temporary relief. I was especially helped by the following statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 162): "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness. The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind."
