Watching and Praying at Exam Time

[For young adults]

Usually, during the last few weeks of a semester or quarter, one can feel an atmosphere of tension begin to build up at school. Worries, discouragement, and even panic are expressed, audibly and silently.

A Christian Scientist who follows "A Rule for Motives and Acts" in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy does not become a participant in this atmosphere of thought. The final part of the Rule is this: "The members of this Church should daily watch and pray to be delivered from all evil, from prophesying, judging, condemning, counseling, influencing or being influenced erroneously." Man., Art. VIII, Sect. 1;

If a Scientist is watching and praying, he sees this preexam panic as misguided human belief tempting him to accept false prophecies, make false judgments, indulge in condemnation, follow human counsel, allow himself to be influenced erroneously.
