Signs of the Times
McHenry County Citizen
From an editorial in the McHenry County Citizen
McHenry, Illinois
There is a most unusual business located in Downers Grove, some fifty miles south of us. Its name is Service Master Industries, Inc. This company has grown exceptionally fast over the past five years, specializing in cleaning and maintenance services for hospitals, homes and offices.
Many businesses are successful and grow but the unusual feature of Service Master is that its operation is dedicated to and guided by religious principles. Its slogan is "Masters of Service, serving the Master." The philosophy of this corporation is that you should not separate religious beliefs from business conduct. Rather, the two should be merged to make practical what ordinarily remains just a point of theory.
