Christian Science was presented to me at a time when I had become completely discouraged. I was a widow and alone in a new state, suffering from a crippling pain in the knee. With this added to other physical problems, it seemed that all human activity was ended. I had spent much of my life consulting doctors and had been in and out of hospitals. Then, like a ray of light from heaven, came Christian Science through a friend who gave me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

I spent all my spare time reading the wonderful truths in this textbook. Within a week major ailments of many years' standing were healed—arthritis, neuritis, paralyzed muscles, hemorrhoids, a throat problem, and the crippled knee. My life was completely changed. Where the doctors had said there was no hope for me, right where life seemed to end, was a wonderful new life. Consequently I wished to join The Mother Church and a branch church, which I did. Later I had class instruction.

Recently, while walking home from the market, I began to feel very weak. When I reached my apartment, the feeling became so extreme that I could hardly finish putting my purchases away. I went into the living room to rest, and picked up a printed Christian Science lecture to read. The lecturer related several healings and explained that these so-called miracles were divinely natural proofs of God's presence. I don't know when I have enjoyed the reading of a lecture more.
