How very grateful I am to my mother, who, after seeing the marvelous results that the study of Christian Science had accomplished for her two sisters, enrolled me in a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of three! From that day to this, Christian Science has provided for every need in my home.
My first healing I recall occurred when I was ten. I fell from a swing and broke my leg. The only mode of conveyance to my home was a wheelbarrow, so with the help of friends I was taken there in it. My mother immediately called a Christian Science practitioner. The healing was quick and has been permanent. This healing was acknowledged by my father, who was not a student of Christian Science. I have always been grateful for this healing and for knowing that when the rules of Christian Science are strictly adhered to, healing results.
At another time, many years later, a problem of an internal nature appeared. It was never diagnosed but was very distressing and quite painful. Through constant study of Mrs. Eddy's writings and of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly for each week, as well as the careful perusal of the periodicals, I tried diligently to keep my thought filled with the truth that my entire being was God-conceived, God-loved, and God-maintained, and that therefore, as His perfect child, I included perfection. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 243), "Perfection does not animate imperfection."
