During one of my trips abroad many years ago, I entered a Church of Christ, Scientist, seemingly by chance. Upon entering I was met with warmth and consideration and was ushered to a seat. My attention was completely absorbed by a statement on the wall in front of me: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). From this statement of Christ Jesus I learned that an understanding of divine Truth gives one freedom.

Shortly thereafter I visited the Reading Room of the church and there purchased the Bible and a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. On my continued travels around in the world I was now accompanied by these treasures. Every time I packed my suitcase they were put into their place first of all, and my careful study of them became a support in all situations. Wherever there were branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, I visited them and attended the lectures that were given. From these I gained something practical and comforting every single time.

Thanks to this study I remained well and was protected at all times so that I could achieve continuous activity, in spite of my travels and a demanding work load as an engineer in a position involving many problems. I also gained a clearer spiritual understanding of my true nature as a child of God and saw my fellowmen men in the same light. In later years, when my traveling became limited, I joined a branch church and also The Mother Church. Sometime later I received class instruction, which increased the understanding gained from my study of Christian Science. There have been many problems which seemed difficult, but they have gradually dissolved into nothingness.
