Church Dedications
CENTERVILLE, LOUISIANA (Society)
St. Mary & Franklin Banner-Tribune June 10, 1969
Christian Science Society, Centerville, will hold a service on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. when the church building will be dedicated.
Almost 60 years ago, in the year 1910, the first public service of Christian Science in this community was held in Centerville in the home of one interested in Christian Science. The attendance at the meetings increased and it was found necessary to have larger quarters. Another move was made to provide more space in 1938.
In 1964 property on Highway 90, Centerville, was donated by a member of the society. At this time the building used for services was moved to the new location on the banks of Bayou Teche.
In 1966 the building was increased in size and renovated to give an attractive, well-lighted, appearance.
The church is now free of debt, as all Christian Science churches must be before they are dedicated. The public is invited to attend the dedication service on Sunday.
