THE GATE CALLED BEAUTIFUL

Acts 3:1-10

Today the sentinels are unawareAt the gate called Beautiful a host is heedingThe ancient dialogue left on the air—Peter's response, at the gate, to the lame man's pleading:"Silver and gold have I none; but such as I haveGive I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of NazarethRise up and walk." And he was healed. But the wavesOf the sound widened out into silence then; the pathLost purpose; the keepers closed and locked that gate.A Messiah will come—they rehearsed the ancient vow—To open wide its doors; let the centuries wait. But the gate called Beautiful is open now.    For blind men see, and deaf and dumb men talk,   In the name of Jesus Christ—we rise and walk.
