With a heart filled with gratitude, I offer my testimony. Christian Science was presented to me when I was desperately in need of healing. I had been under constant medical treatment for a disease that seemed incurable. One minor operation was performed but to no avail. Having heard of Christian Science, I mentioned its healing power to the doctor. He said he felt my only hope was in God but that I should come in to him for something to relieve the pain. However, I felt that if I was going to rely on God, I must rely on Him wholly. Consequently that was my last visit to the doctor.

A dear friend who is a Christian Scientist brought the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to my home. She showed me how to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. For many years I had been seeking for an understanding of what God is, and I had a desire to live in accordance with this understanding. Here was a religion with demonstrable proof. I took these precious books and read them, understanding well the meaning of the words (Rev. 10:8, 9): "Go and take the little book....Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey." There were many wrong thoughts that needed correcting.

During this time the family of my friend opened their door to me. Their loving support helped to sustain me. I shall never cease being grateful for the help I received from a Christian Science practitioner during this illness. Not once did her firm conviction of the truth she was applying for me ever falter. While I was walking "through the valley of the shadow of death" (Ps. 23:4), the words she often spoke to me calmed the fear. "Hold on to God; do not let go; nothing can separate you from His love." This helped me to realize the universal nature of divine Love. My complete healing came.
