Walking Securely

Christ Jesus set the pattern for personal security when he was threatened by a wrathful group of people from his hometown who had intended to cast him headlong from the brow of a hill. Luke says, "But he passing through the midst of them went his way." Luke 4:30; Jesus had just announced his healing ministry but had pointed out that the healing had to be deserved.

Innocent people should be able to walk securely in city streets day or night. While police protection is necessary for the general public, the individual who understands the truths of being that Christian Science teaches places his security on a more certain basis.

In the first place, he is established in the realization that he is never in danger because God is always present and controlling his consciousness and his existence. Then he identifies himself clearly as an idea in divine Mind, or God. He knows that he lives in Mind, is secure there, and that the idea he is is invisible to the physical senses. He is certain that in Mind there is perfect refuge.
