Kim's Kitten
[For children]
Kim opened the back door for Tippy, and the kitten bounded daintily in ahead of her. Kim did not wear a happy face. Mother, who was in the kitchen, saw right away that something was troubling her.
Kim sat down at the kitchen counter.
"Mom," she began, "there's a lump on Tippy's side, and it's been getting larger. You know Mrs. Brown across the street? Well, she saw Tippy today and called me over just now. She says that if it isn't taken care of right away, we'll lose Tippy. Is that true?"
