The Unity of Good; the Unity of Evil

Evil is the counterfeit of good, and as a counterfeit it would pose as reality and mimic good in all possible ways. The oneness of God and man as divine Mind and idea is imitated by the oneness of evil, mortal mind, and its expression, mortal man. Jesus said, "I and my Father are one." John 10:30; He also said of wicked mortals, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. ... When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." 8:41;

Within the oneness of good there is the remedy for all evil, for every form of error. And it is in the process of proving the allness and oneness of good that we effectively separate ourselves from sin and no longer identify ourselves as sinners. Through the application of truth one must destroy both sin and the sinner, mortal mind and its false concept of man. Mrs. Eddy says, "Sin ultimates in sinner, and in this sense they are one. You cannot separate sin from the sinner, nor the sinner from his sin. The sin is the sinner, and vice versa, for such is the unity of evil; and together both sinner and sin will be destroyed by the supremacy of good." Retrospection and Introspection, p. 64;

Prominent in the salvation that Christ Jesus brought to mankind is the concept that one must be born again, that one must come to realize his nature and character as the child of God. In the process of healing we do not attempt to change a sinner into the son of God, nor do we seek to change a sick mortal into the perfect man. The coming of the truth to human consciousness reveals the fact that man is the perfect child of God. He always has been and ever will be. Proper healing wipes out any basis for evil and any remembrance of it.
