The Reverend Leon Howard Sullivan is the founder of the Opportunities Industrialization Center, a dynamic, self-help, jobtraining program for Negroes and others who wish to join it. .

It began with little fanfare and no money. And it has grown, with the subsequent aid of government, business, and labor, into what U. S. President Lyndon B. Johnson called a "symbol of the spirit that allows men to overcome the ignorance and helplessness of poverty."
