MAN, THE EXPRESSION OF GOD'S BEING
The poet sings because he must,
Possessed by music of that Mind
Which, matchless in creation, moves
And will not be confined.
The sculptor, molding life in bronze,
Well knows that Soul the matrix is;
And the composer, led by Love,
Orchestrates symphonies.
The painter, irresistibly
Is quickened by the Life that flows
Through all creation's loveliness—
Lake, mountain, bird, or rose.
For every one receives a gift
Whereby God's being is expressed.
And such as give or take rejoice,
Knowing their portion blessed.
