Giving a Cup of Cold Water
[For young adults]
Christian Scientists sometimes bend over backward not to be aggressive in sharing Christian Science with others. While it is right to respect another's individual way of life, this holding back is often a false sense of goodness, which may well result in lost opportunity.
One of the synonyms for God found in the Bible and echoed throughout Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy is Love. What is there in the nature of Deity, basic cause, that makes the word "Love" a suitable term when referring to Him?
The nature of Love is to give. God is forever giving man all that man needs. Christian Scientists, reflecting God as Love, find that their nature becomes more and more one of giving. God, being incorporeal, has only good ideas to give, not relative, human advice. The greatest thing we can give another is a right idea. We can help him understand who he really is and what he can accomplish through demonstrating his relationship to God.
