Jesus said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." What a beautiful and comforting statement this is! Some time ago a Christian Science practitioner told me that my part as a student of Christian Science was to seek, to strive, if need be, to know the truth—not to try to make the truth true or to force it to do something, but to know that the truth is always true.

This understanding of Truth was a great inspiration to me when the following situation developed. For some time our little two-year-old daughter had been developing rather alarming signs that seemed to indicate she could be lacking some necessary element in her blood. As these symptoms continued to develop, members of the family became extremely fearful. I prayed and studied diligently to know the truth for her, to see she could be only God's pure and perfect expression. Mortal mind tried persistently to present many stumbling blocks and doubts. At each seeming setback, I prayed until I felt free from all fear.

My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, became so alarmed because of latent fears he had concerning blood diseases that he decided to have her blood tested by a physician. The test given in the physician's office showed that the child had a deficiency of iron in her blood, and other tests concerning blood diseases were to be taken at a hospital in three days.
