Three in One
In The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mrs. Eddy makes this forthright statement: "The infinite is one, and this one is Spirit; Spirit is God, and this God is infinite good." My., p. 356; She then underlines the importance of these incisive words by saying, "This simple statement of oneness is the only possible correct version of Christian Science."
Here in clear, scientific language is the very basis of monotheistic theology and the foundation of the demonstrable Science of Christianity. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord."Deut. 6:4;
The idea of one righteous, all-powerful God was a concept held to sporadically by the Hebrew nation during its long and turbulent history. In a polytheistic environment this concept was unique and in advance of its times, and when the true idea was glimpsed and its moral demands obeyed, Israel prospered and was protected.
