Several years prior to my birth my parents took up the earnest study of Christian Science. Consequently I had the joyous privilege of being brought up in a home where we habitually turned to God for healing of inharmony or disease. Added to this basic home training were sixteen years of regular attendance in a Christian Science Sunday School.

This firm foundation of proof by demonstration has been of considerable comfort and encouragement in more recent years as I have continued to receive blessings from the application of these valued teachings. It is now my joy to be engaged in Sunday School teaching and to see my own children receiving this blessing.

I have seen and experienced the healing of many so-called children's diseases, including measles, mumps, chicken pox, and croup. When I was losing my first teeth, the dental verdict that my jaw could never contain the growing teeth was reversed completely through the prayerful work of my mother. One of the first healings I received through my own work was that of a badly sprained ankle.

The accident occurred while I was playing tennis late one afternoon. Although I had great difficulty getting home that evening, I was able to walk almost normally the following morning, and by the evening of the second day the healing was complete.

On one occasion when my youngest daughter was under two years of age, a large splinter became embedded under her toenail. I was able to apply the truths of Christian Science immediately, and she soon became calm and quiet. Although a certain amount of fear was expressed by others, I am grateful to say the child had a minimum of inconvenience, and within three or four days the splinter came loose and was easily removed. The whole condition quickly disappeared, and there were no aftereffects.

At another time this same child had been ill all one day. I went into the room where she was lying to find her talking incoherently and staring vacantly and apparently unrecognizingly. I turned immediately to the truth of man's pure perfection as a spiritual idea, inseparable from God's love and care. Although I do not recall which specific truths were repeated to the child, I received one of those moments of spiritual inspiration when Truth, God, fills consciousness with the knowledge that all is well. The child sat up, asked for a drink of milk, and then proceeded to bed for a good night's sleep. Her recovery was complete.

I am sincerely grateful for all the proofs of the healing power of the Christ, Truth, I have witnessed.

As the mother referred to in the preceding testimony, I should like to enlarge on my son's statement.

Since no doctor was present at his birth and no medication of any kind had ever been used for him, I was rather perturbed when the suggestion came to my thought to take him to a dentist for a checkup.

When the urge persisted, I told my husband of it; and after prayerful work we decided to follow what seemed a clear direction. When the dentist told me the child's jaw was particularly small so that there would not be room for all the permanent teeth, and consequently they would be crooked and overlapping, there flashed into my thought the verse from I Corinthians 3:11, "Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." At first I did not quite see how that applied to the situation, but it so uplifted my thought that I went home happily. For some days my thought was illumined with a wonderful unfoldment of truth concerning man's identity as a child of God. I was resolving things into thoughts, as Mrs. Eddy mentions (Science and Health, p. 123): "Divine Science, rising above physical theories, excludes matter, resolves things into thoughts, and replaces the objects of material sense with spiritual ideas." In due course the baby teeth were replaced by a perfectly even and regular set of teeth in a jaw large enough to contain them.

I am grateful for the many glimpses of reality gained by the study and application of Christian Science.
