Over forty-five years ago my husband and I were invited to attend a Christian Science lecture to be given in a neighboring Church of Christ, Scientist, in the Middle West, where we were then residing. We attended the lecture, and the logic of the message appealed to us both so strongly that we wanted to know more about Christian Science. We began to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meetings and the Sunday services regularly. The testimonies of healing in Christian Science were awe-inspiring revelations, and the more we attended the services, the more convinced we became that we had found what we had been searching for. Before this time we had been members of an orthodox Protestant church in the East.

When we had been attending Christian Science services for about a year, our infant son was stricken with bronchial pneumonia. Our Christian Science friends thoughtfully offered to call a practitioner for us, as we had no previous experience in the practice of Christian Science healing. This we eagerly agreed to. It was Easter Sunday, our friends were having dinner with us after the church service, and the practitioner was called and asked to treat our little son. He had been breathing with difficulty, and his respirations were quite audible in the next room.

When the practitioner arrived, she cheerfully told us to go right on with our dinner and withdrew to pray for the child in the next room. The treatment was wonderfully effective, for in a few moments the child was asleep, breathing normally. The practitioner left with the assurance that the child was well. The child is now a man with two grown daughters of his own and employed in a responsible position.
