"If the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 365). The proof of this statement was my introduction to Christian Science.

I had been under the care of doctors and having treatment for some time while trying to hold a secretarial position because it was necessary for me to earn my living. I knew nothing about Christian Science.

Early one morning before dawn I was awakened by excruciating pains that gradually grew worse, and my temperature rose to a high degree. When a member of my family found me in this condition, she wanted to call the doctor who had been treating me. But in those early morning hours, in spite of the pain, I had come to the realization that medical science could do nothing for me. I had had previous operations, and I knew that once the doctor came it meant being rushed to the hospital for an emergency operation. I wanted no more of this. I had heard that Christian Science would heal, and in those quiet hours I resolved to turn to it and trust it.
