Yield with Full Consent to Truth
Human beings give their consent to sickness just as they do to sin. The body can do nothing and feel nothing of itself. The mortal, or carnal, mind decrees whether the body feels ill or well, and it decrees this according to the false, material beliefs it entertains about health.
Christian Science explains that the real, spiritual man is governed by divine Mind and is perfect in health and holiness. In actuality, health is spiritual and is never dependent on material conditions but is the reflection of the divine qualities of Mind. Man has perfect health because he is the image and likeness of Mind, Truth. As mortal mind yields to the divine Mind, a true, spiritual sense of health is established. But mortal mind must be humbly prepared to do this and to give its full consent to yield.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in Science and Health with Key lo the Scriptures: "That mortal mind claims to govern every organ of the mortal body, we have overwhelming proof. But this so-called mind is a myth, and must by its own consent yield to Truth." Science and Health, pp. 151, Our difficulty may lie in giving this consent.
