I should like to share some of my experiences in Christian Science...
I should like to share some of my experiences in Christian Science with others so that they, too, may rejoice with me in God's omnipotence.
When I was in my early teens, I had cerebral palsy, according to my father and a kind doctor. My father, who is not a Christian Scientist, insisted upon the opinion of a doctor. I seemed to be getting gradually worse and developed a limp. My mother immediately took me to a Christian Science practitioner, and I experienced a healing of the limp at once.
During this trial I learned to lean on God, not self. The ninety-first Psalm with its protection, the twenty-third Psalm with its love and peace, and "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy were read and studied during this time. The following words are included in "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468): "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."
