"Why...stand aghast at nothingness?"

The rapidity with which spectacular events and radical changes take place in our world today sometimes causes us to blink in sheer wonderment. Political upheavals, aggression, war, changing moral standards, wonder drugs, and space travel seem deserving of one's rapt attention. Surely there is nothing wrong and very much right about being well informed as to current events and world changes, but for the student of Christian Science there should be but one purpose for gaining this information.

Questions should arise from each bit of news. Is this good? Is it according to Principle? Will it make for a better world? If there is evidence of peace and understanding among men and nations, one can indeed be grateful for this, but if not, there is something to be done about the matter. One must prepare for and take mental action.

Christian Science teaches us to detect the false claims presented by error, to turn from them immediately, and to reverse the errors specifically and vehemently. Mrs. Eddy assures us in Science and Health that "the greatest wrong is but a supposititious opposite of the highest right."  Science and Health, p. 368; What one needs to do, then, is to see what truth error is counterfeiting and to know that that truth is spiritual fact that cannot be reversed.
