When I was quite young, I discovered that I had a tiny growth on the back of my head about the size of a pea. It never changed, and it didn't bother me, so I did nothing about it. I was not a Christian Scientist at that time. After I married, I began to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, with my husband and to study the Lesson-Sermons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.
About eight years ago the growth began to grow until it was quite large. I prayed to know the truth about it, but I seemed to get no results. Finally I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment to help me see the unreality of this lie. She did her part faithfully. I knew her work was done and that it was up to me to do more consecrated work for myself. So I asked her to discontinue her treatments.
Not long after this, we were given an assignment to study in preparation for the annual meeting of our Christian Science students' association. Everything that we were given to study inspired me, especially Hymn No. 85 in the Christian Science Hymnal. The opening words are:
