"Sorry, little wasp!"

James was having a boating holiday with his mother on the canals in the countryside. His mother had invited three of his friends to share it with them, and they all enjoyed taking turns manning the boat, which was a long, narrow, converted barge.

One warm day, when James had given his mother her turn at the tiller, and he was nimbly edging his way down the catwalk which ran all around the barge, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his hand.
