As I think of the freedom that Christian Science brings to those who follow its teachings, my heart goes out in gratitude to God for our dear Master, Christ Jesus, and for his faithful follower, Mrs. Eddy. I have had many healings. One which brought great freedom was the healing of fear. As a child I was at times consumed by it—fear of noise, fear of the dark, and fear of people; and it is hard to imagine the intense suffering it caused. But that is a thing of the past.

I should like to put on record the healing over three years ago of a distressing skin condition that gave me little rest day or night. I sincerely hope that others will be helped by the assurance that whatever the fiery furnace may claim to be, the experience can only purify and strengthen one's spiritual understanding of the permanence of harmony and the impotence of discord.

While I was awaiting the establishment of a home of my own, a student of Christian Science whom I hardly knew, discerning my need, took me into her home and cared for me. Before becoming a Christian Scientist she had been a medical nurse, but never once did she hint at a diagnosis or ask questions, nor was she afraid, but quietly gave me support and mental freedom to listen for the promptings of divine Love and obey them. This Christlike attitude contributed greatly to my healing. The condition did not appear on my face, though I had to wear gloves and could use my hands only with difficulty. I am grateful for the continuance of nearly normal daily activity. This was to me a reminder of Christ Jesus' parable of the wheat which continued to grow untouched by the tares, though they grew side by side (see Matt. 13:24-30).
