Applying God's Law

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "God's law is in three words, 'I am All;' and this perfect law is ever present to rebuke any claim of another law." No and Yes, p. 30; Obviously there can be nothing outside all; nothing can be added to it nor anything taken from it, for it is all-encompassing, all-inclusive. In what way can we, during our human experience, make practical use of the spiritual fact of God's allness?

Logical reasoning on this subject makes it clear that the material body cannot be an exception to God's omnipresence and omnipotence. Right where matter claims to be, right where a material body seems to be, right there the All-God is present and governing. God doesn't know anything about a physical body, for He is Spirit; but His governing law is operating right where physicality seems to be occupying space. The body, including its organs, functions, and actions, is subject to God and His governing law. As this fact is understood, it is made manifest in the human body as right action and normal function.

The body, being nonintelligent, inanimate, and sensationless, cannot move itself, disease itself, or determine its condition. God being omnipotent and omnipresent, His law governs all action, and its power is made evident as the proper functioning of every part of the human system. The harmonious functioning of the body is evidence of the coincidence of the divine with the human and is the outward manifestation of the normal action we call health.
