Factors of Success

"What mental and spiritual factors contributed to Mrs. Eddy's success as a practitioner?" Historical Sketches, pp. 76, 77; This question is asked in the book, Historical Sketches by Clifford P. Smith.

The author gives this reply: "Evidently, one factor was her absolute confidence in Christian Science as a divine revelation. For this reason and from experience, she was certain that its basic ideas can be demonstrated. Another factor was that her comprehension of particular ideas was both clear and positive. Another important factor was that Mrs. Eddy loved; she yearned to do good. Furthermore, she was certain that God is divine Love, whose law or providence is always available and is always adequate for every need."

The same three factors—confidence, comprehension, and love— are indispensable elements in the spiritual makeup of every successful student of Christian Science. Therefore they deserve closer consideration.
