Not long ago I was requested by my place of employment to renew my two-year-old X-ray certificate. After complying with this request, I set about preparing for a summer trip to my home town. As I was to leave, a call from the X-ray department informed me that they had found shadowed areas on one lung and that a larger X ray was required. Predictions of valley fever and tuberculosis were made.
After putting the phone down, I prayerfully turned to God. Christian Science had been my only source of help for many years, and I stood there humbly grateful. The twenty-third Psalm came to my thought, and these words stood out as if in light, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." That angel thought and presence silenced all fear.
What a wonderful opportunity was before me to search out and learn more about the healing presence of God!
