Right Timing

People everywhere long to achieve a right sense of timing in their daily affairs. But how can anyone ever really know in any given situation when the proper time has come to take forward steps?

The writer, a former elementary school principal, has taken many courses in school administration through the years. Over and over again in these courses the statement was made that in order to administer successfully there must be right timing. Many a school and building program has failed because the timing for it was either too early or too late. Many an advertising campaign has failed because of poor timing.

In our own lives we often have to admit that we have failed simply because we were in too much of a hurry to do a certain task. Or, conversely, we often fail because we are too late in our endeavors. The popular expression, "Hindsight is better than foresight," often seems the case. But must we always be like ping-pong balls bouncing between what is too soon and what is too late?
