Acknowledge Receipt!

When we receive a notification from a lawyer's office that we have inherited a sum of money or some property, it is often necessary to acknowledge receipt before we receive our inheritance.

It occurs to me that we often receive notifications that we are heirs—yet without always being aware of it. These notifications contain messages from our divine Father telling us that we are heirs of infinite good—the spiritual riches of infinite peace, love, and harmony. As it says in the Bible, "We are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ."^{Rom. 8:16, 17;} We need to acknowledge these notifications with our gratitude and then respond to God's direction in the form of loving deeds as we perform our daily duties.

I have benefited greatly from having learned this lesson. For many years it seemed to me that I was under a wrong influence that sent me messages prompting daydreams and conceit. I acknowledged receipt of these messages, responding with irritation and fear, and returned these reactions to those from whom the wrong information seemed to come. The result was illness and unsuccessful studies. It was several years before I realized that my Father-Mother God constantly sent ideas to me about health, steadfastness, and trust in good. These were true messages, but I had not heard them because of my fear of others and because of the belief that mortal mind had authority over me.
